50ft(15.2M)Heat Exchange Recirculating Mash System(HERMS) Coil
Description:
1. Coil Diameter - 10"(25cm) & 12" (30cm)
2. Inlet/Out length - 2.4"(10" diameter version), 1.6" (12" diameter version )
3. Distance from inlet/out(measurements taken center of tubing to center of tubing)
10.8"(10" diameter version), 8.5" (12" diameter version )
4. Overall coil height
11"(10" diameter version), 9" (12" diameter version )
The ends of the coil extend approximately 2" past the diameter to allow the user to cut to the exact length they need as every kettle will be slightly different. Cut the ends using a hacksaw and file the edges smooth with a metal file so that there are no burrs. If you want to get a nice clean cut, using a stainless steel tubing cutter instead as it will create a perfect cut without burrs.
Features:
1. Maintain your mash temp like a pro with the 1/2" x 50` Stainless Steel HERMS Coil.
2. Perfect for step mashing 10-15 gallon batches of your favorite brew.
3. The longer 50 foot length ensures that heat transfer is maximized and the large 1/2 inch tubing minimizes flow restriction.
4. Easy to install even in tight kettles due to the cross-over design as having the ends come from the opposite sides of the coil allows for more flex.
5. 8 Different Types for choose.
Specifications:
Total length: 50 feet
Material: 1/2" OD 304 stainless steel, 0.035" wall thickness, seamless
Ends: Bent at a 90 degree angle to exit straight out of kettle wall, lining up perpendicular with each other.
Cleaning:
We recommend a good clean with PBW or similar oxygen based cleaner (recirculate with pump through coil, and a light scrub on the outside with a nylon brush or similar - do not use a steel brush or scrubby). Let it air dry afterward. The air dry allows any un-passivated sections of the stainless steel to re-passivate and prevents future rust. Once this is done, your coil will be rust free for life.
How does the HERMS Coil attach to my kettle?
Step 1: Drill two 22mm holes in the kettle. The holes in the kettle wall should be 10.8" apart (center to center), however we recommend you wait to receive your coil to confirm before punching your holes.
Step 2 Cut the ends using a hacksaw to the exact length they need. File the edges smooth with a metal file so that there are no burrs. Using our unique weldless bulkhead (Type D) to attach the coil to your hot liquor tank.
Step 3 Add the ball valves into the coil inlet & outlet. Enjoy your brewing day!
